The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BRCI) is a modern museum linked to the Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument, featuring key Civil Rights Movement sites. Visitors can explore a 1950s segregated city, a Freedom Riders bus replica, and the jail cell door from which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote his “Letter From Birmingham Jail.” The institute houses extensive Civil Rights Movement archives and nearly 500 oral histories.
